Built by Cammell Laird Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd,Birkenhead for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Ltd,Douglas,Isle of Man.
2,489grt Length 344.0”, 47” 2 in breadth powered by twin screw steam turbines, passengers 2,351.
Allocated yard number1192,she was launched 11th March 1948 by Mrs J.R.Quayle.
Following fitting out,trials took place between the19th & 20th July 1948 achieving a speed of 21.493 knots,and her maiden voyage was 24th July 1948.
She had a very successful career being used as a tender to the Cunard liner“Ascania”and during her early years in service carried out a number of cruises off Blackpool to view the illuminations.Her final departure from Douglas was August Bank Holiday Monday 1977,following which,she was laid up at Bidston dock, Birkenhead from September 1977 to May 1978.
Later sold to Rochdale Metal Recovery Co.she was moved to East Float June 1978 and
departed Birkenhead on August 24th 1978 under tow to Blyth,Northumberland being
scrapped by H. KitsonVickers &Co.in September 1978.
